PLASTER REPAIRS — WORTHING AND TEN MILES AROUND IT
WE TURN UP FOR
SMALL REPAIRS TOO
A small repair is often the hardest job in the house to get anyone out for. We quote repairs the same way we quote a full room. Protection goes down before we start, and the area is cleaned down at the end of each day. Six years of plastering sits behind the work.

THE WORK
MOST REPAIRS ARE ONE OF THESE
How it is put back depends on what is behind it. A section taken back to the background is floated out and skimmed. Damaged ceilings can be repaired, or overboarded and skimmed where that is the better answer. Where boarding suits a wall better than patching, we dot and dab plasterboard to it. Either way, it is left as a clean finish ready for decorating.
Cracks across a wall or ceiling, including ones that have been filled before
Holes and impact damage, including where a fireplace or fitted unit has been taken out
Blown areas where the plaster has come away from the background
Making good after electrical or plumbing work has been chased in
Corners and beads that have taken a knock
Sand and cement render outside that has cracked or blown
STRAIGHT ANSWER
WHEN A PATCH WORKS, AND WHEN IT DOES NOT
A patch works where the plaster around it is sound. The damaged section is cut back, filled and worked into the surrounding surface. Where a wall or ceiling has been patched several times, or the plaster has blown across a wider area than the damage suggests, skimming the whole surface is usually the better job. We tell you that at quote stage.
Some damage has a cause behind it. Where there is a leak, damp or movement in the structure, that needs putting right before new plaster goes on. Those causes are not covered by the one year guarantee. We tell you what we can see when we quote.
The written quote sets out whether we are pricing a patch or the whole wall or ceiling.
ON THE DAY
TURNING UP, AND CLEARING UP
Most worries about a plasterer come down to two things: whether he turns up, and what the place looks like when he leaves. This is how a repair is run.
The quote and a start date are agreed before anything is booked in.
Areas should be cleared before the first day.
We arrive around 8am on the day agreed.
Floors and anything in or around the working area are protected before work starts.
The area is cleaned down at the end of each day.
Waste is bagged and left on site, and can be moved to a spot of your choosing where that is practical. We do not take waste away. On larger jobs with more waste, a skip can be priced in if necessary.
We are contactable 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
GUIDANCE, NOT A PRICE LIST
WHAT MOVES THE PRICE
What moves the price is the condition of the walls and ceilings and how much preparation they need. The figures below are a guide, not a quote.
A single patch in one visit — a filled-in doorway, a blown area, the damage left behind a removed fireplace. Photos are normally enough for us to start on a quotation.
Several small areas in the same visit, typically after electrical or plumbing work. Priced together, because the setting up and cleaning down happens once.
A ceiling or wall with too much damage to patch. Skimming the whole surface usually beats adding another patch, so it is priced as a surface.
A small bedroom, walls and ceiling skimmed over sound existing plaster
A living room where the old plaster has failed, floated back out and skimmed
You will be given an estimated number of days with the quote. A firm price follows photos or a site visit, and both the visit and the written quote are free.
BACKED IN WRITING
WHAT YOU GET IN WRITING
This is what stands behind the work.
The work carries a one year workmanship guarantee, given in writing and running from the day the work is finished. It covers faults caused by our preparation or application.
It does not cover structural movement, damp, leaks, failure of the existing background, everyday wear and repeated knocks, or damage from work carried out by others.
We carry £1,000,000 public liability insurance through Simply Business, in case anything ever goes wrong.
- A free site visit and a written quote before anything is agreed.
- Quality materials suited to the job.
- Six years of plastering behind the work.
THE BUSINESS
A NEW NAME, NOT A NEW TRADE
Nova Plastering was set up in 2026. The business is new, the plastering is not — six years of it sits behind the work.
QUESTIONS
THE THINGS PEOPLE ASK FIRST
How long before I can paint new plaster?
New plaster dries from dark patches to an even pale pink, and it is dry when the last dark patches have gone. How long that takes depends on the room, the ventilation and the time of year. We give an estimate for your job based on the conditions on site.
How much mess will there be?
There is dust, and plastering cannot be done without it. Protection goes down over floors and anything in or around the working area before we start, and the area is cleaned down at the end of each day.
Do you move the furniture?
Areas should be cleared before the first day.
Do I need to be there?
We ask that someone lets us in each morning and locks up at the end of the day. It helps if you are contactable by phone while we are there. You do not need to stay in the house while the work is going on.
How long will you be in my house?
You will be given an estimated number of days with the quote.
Does wallpaper need removing first?
Yes. We ask that wallpaper is taken off before we start. If it is still up when you ask for a quote, tell us.
Do radiators need to come off?
It is good practice to have radiators taken off so we can plaster behind them. Taking a radiator off is plumbing work, which we do not carry out. If radiators stay on the wall, we can only blend around them.
Do skirting boards need to come off?
We plaster down to existing skirting where it is staying. If skirting is being changed, we ask that it is taken off before we start. Removing skirting is not part of our work.
NEXT STEP
THE QUICKEST WAY TO A PRICE
Send photos of the room as a whole and any problem areas on WhatsApp and we can start on a quotation. Where photos cannot answer it, we arrange a site visit. The site visit and the written quote are free. We cover Worthing and around ten miles out from it.
The phone is answered 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and any message left is returned. WhatsApp is the best route for messages and photos. An enquiry can be sent at any time. We reply as quickly as we can during working hours, Monday to Friday.
