THE WORK
WHAT YOUR ROOM ACTUALLY NEEDS.
The condition of the walls and ceilings decides the work, not the size of the room. These are the routes most rooms take.
SKIMMING
A finish coat over existing walls and ceilings, including ceilings with sound Artex on them. The surface comes back smooth and even, ready to decorate.
FLOAT AND SET
Where the old plaster has blown or come away, it is taken off, the wall is floated out, then skimmed. A finish coat on its own would follow the fault underneath.
REPAIRS AND PATCHING
Blown areas and holes made good and blended into the wall around them, where a full room is not needed.
Dry lining, including overboarding ceilings and dot and dab plasterboarding to existing walls, is also carried out, along with sand and cement rendering.
MESS
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR HOUSE WHILE WE ARE IN IT.
Most worries about a plasterer come down to two things: whether he turns up, and what the place looks like when he leaves. This is how both are handled here.
Floors, and anything in or around the working area, are protected where needed before anything starts.
Everything is cleaned down at the end of each day.
Areas should be cleared before the first day. Once they are clear, floors and anything in or around them are protected where needed.
ON THE DAY
YOU WILL KNOW THE DATE, AND WE KEEP IT.
QUOTE AND DATE
The room is priced and a start date is agreed with it.
BEFORE THE FIRST DAY
Areas should be cleared before the first day. Once they are clear, floors and anything in or around them are protected where needed.
ARRIVAL
Around 8am. Floors and anything in or around the working area are protected before the first mix.
END OF DAY
Everything is cleaned down. Waste is bagged and left on site, and can be moved to a spot of your choosing where that is practical. We do not take waste away.
Every room is different, so any duration is an estimate given with the quote.
On larger jobs with more waste, a skip can be priced in if necessary.
THE FINISH
THE PREPARATION DECIDES THE FINISH.
We use quality materials suited to the job. Beyond that, the difference is in the preparation: the background is assessed and treated first, because a finish coat cannot correct what it is sitting on.
Edges are worked in around sockets, reveals and skirting, and the wall is left smooth and even. It is a clean finish ready for decorating.
GUIDE PRICES
WHAT DECIDES THE PRICE OF YOUR ROOM.
What moves the price is the condition of the walls and ceilings and how much preparation they need. The figures below are a guide, not a quote.
A small bedroom, walls and ceiling skimmed over sound existing plaster — around £500 to £700.
A living room where the old plaster has failed, floated back out and skimmed — around £1,400 to £2,000.
You will be given an estimated number of days with the quote. A firm price follows photos or a site visit.

£1,000,000 PUBLIC LIABILITY
Held through Simply Business, in case anything ever goes wrong.
The business started in 2026, with six years of plastering behind it.
QUESTIONS
THE QUESTIONS WE ARE ASKED MOST.
How long before I can paint new plaster?
New plaster dries from dark patches to an even pale pink, and it is dry when the last dark patches have gone. How long that takes depends on the room, the ventilation and the time of year. We give an estimate for your job based on the conditions on site.
Do you move the furniture?
Areas should be cleared before the first day. Once they are clear, floors and anything in or around them are protected where needed.
Do I need to be there?
We ask that someone lets us in each morning and locks up at the end of the day. It helps if you are contactable by phone while we are there. You do not need to stay in the house while the work is going on.
Can an Artex ceiling be skimmed over?
In most cases it can. The surface is prepared and sealed first, then skimmed to a clean finish ready for decorating. Where the pattern is very heavy, or the surface is loose or blown, overboarding is the better route and we say so.
How is the job priced?
On the condition of the walls and ceilings and how much preparation they need. Labour and materials are included. Send photos on WhatsApp and we can start on a quotation, or we arrange a free site visit and a written quote.
Does wallpaper need removing first?
Yes. We ask that wallpaper is taken off before we start. If it is still up when you ask for a quote, tell us.
Do skirting boards need taking off?
We plaster down to existing skirting where it is staying. If skirting is being changed, we ask that it is taken off before we start. Removing skirting is not part of our work.
Do radiators need taking off?
It is good practice to have radiators taken off so we can plaster behind them. Taking a radiator off is plumbing work, which we do not carry out. If radiators stay on the wall, we can only blend around them.
